Overview
The Pokémon Café Official Site project focused on designing a globally accessible and culturally inclusive website for Pokémon Café. Later, the project expanded to include a landing page for Pokémon Sweets, a related shop specializing in cakes and desserts. As the lead designer, I was responsible for creating the UI for both desktop and mobile versions, taking the projects from concept to release. The designs balanced consistency with the Pokémon brand while tailoring each site to its unique theme.
Challenge
Limited Resources and Timelines:
The project faced tight timelines, with finalized café photos unavailable during the initial design phase. Stock images and references from other café websites guided the early stages.
Multilingual Adaptation:
Designing for a global audience required addressing varying word lengths across languages, ensuring the layout remained visually harmonious and user-friendly.
Distinct Theme for Pokémon Sweets:
Adapting the Pokémon Café design for Pokémon Sweets required a more playful and whimsical aesthetic, reflecting its focus on sweets like cakes and desserts.
Process
Designing Flexible Templates
Created a versatile layout for the Pokémon Café website using stock photos and references, ensuring it could adapt once finalized resources became available.
For Pokémon Sweets, customized the design to incorporate playful typography, vibrant colors, and whimsical elements.
Tools and Techniques
Utilized Adobe XD for prototyping, Illustrator and Photoshop for creating assets, and After Effects for animations where necessary.
Collaboration and Feedback
Worked closely with the frontend engineer to implement the designs.
Incorporated feedback from the client via the project manager, iterating the designs to align with both the brand identity and individual themes.
